The Over-the-Rhine Foundation and the Hudepohl-Schoenling Brewing Co. have teamed up for this year’s 18th annual Bockfest, a celebration of German brewing heritage, Over-the-Rhine and the coming of spring.
Friday kicks off the weekend-long festival with the Bockfest Parade. The parade, which starts at Arnold’s at 5:30 p.m., will travel up Main Street led by a goat pulling a keg and the reigning Sausage Queen. Afterward, enjoy food, bock beer and live music by The Bier Band and Jake Speed & The Freddies at Bockfest Hall.
Saturday features the home brewer’s competition, the winner of which will be brewed as next year's Hudy Bock, the Sausage Queen competition finals, food by Mecklenburg Gardens and Taste of Belgium and music by Strawboss.
Sunday features a traditional German mass at Old St. Mary's, special German cultural exhibitions and activities at Bockfest Hall and tours of Over-the-Rhine’s historical churches.
More Bockfest-related events will be going on at various downtown venues as well.
