I can't think of a better way to spend a Saturday afternoon than watching costume-clad runners pull grocery-filled shopping carts along a five-mile trek through the streets of downtown. Sounds too good to be true, right? Well, you're in luck — noon Saturday is your chance to see all this and more as New Horizons Credit Union hosts its fourth annual Cinciditarod. What's a Cinciditarod, you ask? It’s a wacky shopping cart race through the city, named for the Alaskan Iditarod — the 1,100-mile dog-sledding race — but instead of dogs it's people, and instead of sleds it's shopping carts (and instead of Alaska it's Cincinnati). Come root the teams on for a good cause — the items in the shopping carts will go to Cincinnati's Freestore Foodbank — or just come for the festivities and enjoy a free party and awards ceremony as the teams pull up to the finish line on Fountain Square.
