Pasta, meatballs and pizza — oh my! And I’m not talking about that week-old, not-quite-sure-if-that’s-edible junk from a sweaty man slingin’ pizzas for minimum wage. Friday evening kicks off the Cincinnati Italian Festival, which was started by a local church and turned into a bash even the nuns can’t turn down. Authentic Italian foods will be showcased from restaurants such as Gabby’s Cafe, Noce’s Pizzeria, Doce Vita Café, LaRosa’s and Pompilios.
There will be booths scattered about, including wine booths, beer booths, fry booths, grill booths and booths I can’t even pronounce selling cookies and cannoli. Musical entertainment will be provided by The Remains, Michael Sutherland, Dr. Zoot and EuroRhythms — dancing is encouraged; fist-pumpin’ optional. Topping it off with cooking demonstrations, an Italian auto show and many other things Italy-inspired, it sounds like one badass weekend. Festival hours are 6 p.m.-midnight Friday, 3-11 p.m. Saturday and 1-9 p.m. Sunday. It’s all taking place at the Fairgrounds of Harvest Home Park (3961 North Bend Road, Cheviot).
