The Cincy Blues Fest is now entering its 17th year and its longevity can be accredited to a number of factors. The event — returning to Sawyer Point — remains one of the longest-running Blues festivals in the world by booking established headliners, but also by adapting to the times and catering to the community. The “Alternative Blues” stage from last year is unfortunately not back for 2009, but tons of the city’s finest Blues performers are representing at this year’s event, including Todd Hepburn, G. Miles and the Hitmen, Johnny Fink & the Intrusion, the Tempted Souls Band, II Juicy, The Bluebirds, Michael Locke & the Repeat Offenders, Cheryl Renee with Them Bones, The Blues Merchants and the Doug Hart Band. The Ludlow Garage tribute stage adds an extra dimension of local love, while the Arches Boogie Woogie stage brings back one of the most unique elements of this or any fest.

Friday night’s headliners showcase women in Blues, with Janiva Magness, the Reba Russell Band and Carolyn Wonderland. Saturday’s headline acts are Magic Slim & The Teardrops, The Radio Kings and Deanna Bogart.

Admission is $10 on Friday and $15 on Saturday.
