It’s that time of year again when the heritage of Cincinnati is giving locals a reason to overindulge in cultural activities. Head to Findlay Market (1801 Race St., Downtown) Saturday for the kick-off of the Tri State’s 116 Duetscher Tag opening celebration. From 11 a.m.-1 p.m., ceremony goers can watch as the Bavarian parade marches to their own tune. See the ancestry of native Cincinnatian’s come alive while German dance, music and singing groups give onlookers a taste of the old country. Representatives of area German-American societies, as well as the German heritage of the Market, will be adding further traditional flavor to the merriment of the ambiance. Let the festivities continue Sunday at the Hofbrauhaus (200 E. Third St., Newport) from 11 a.m.-11 p.m. The German-American Citizens League of Greater Cincinnati will be offering hourly raffle prizes throughout the day, and a grand raffle at 5:30 p.m. This free event will also have music, fine food and beverages on tap for your amusement. No matter what time you arrive, there will be free parking to accommodate your needs.
