A vegetarian’s worst nightmare and a carnivore’s fantasy — an entire festival dedicated to celebrating meat. Glier’s Goettafest 2009 is the uber gala for goetta, the “Cincinnati Caviar,” as well as the Queen City’s German heritage. The concoction, made from pork, beef, spices and steel-cut oats, will be served up by popular local vendors in every way you could ever imagine and every way you would never imagine, including brownies, pizza and even sushi adorned with the stuff. Wunderbar! Also, if buying goetta from a real person just isn’t exciting enough, be sure to stop by the world’s only goetta vending machine to pick up your own pound of pork-y perfection. There will also be live music, clogging performances and plenty of family-friendly funtivities like Goetta Toss, Goetta Slide, a cornhole tournament with prizes and several kiddy rides. Free. 5-11 p.m. Friday; noon-11 p.m. Saturday; noon-9 p.m. Sunday.
