Mainstrasse has been welcoming in the first spring wines for 30 years with Maifest, and, like all of our favorite festivals here in the Queen City, this one is decidedly German. There will be meat. There will be alcohol. There will be music. Over six blocks along the Sixth Street promenade, Main Street and Philadelphia Street will be taken over by arts, crafts, German food, booze and live entertainment. The Kinderplatz will be full of adventures and rides for small children, and live German, Pop, Rock, Blues and Country bands will be scattered around stages in places like Goebel Park and by the Goose Girl fountain. It seems inefficient to head to Germany for the weekend, so just go to Kentucky. It’s almost the same. 5-11:30 p.m. Friday; noon-11:30 p.m. Saturday; noon-9 p.m. Sunday. Get details here.
