Long ago, before cable television and pay-per-view boxing, people would do crazy things in front of a live audience to entertain them. Things like shooting themselves out of canons or lifting really heavy things. The Wallenda family made its name doing such crazy things. Saturday at Kings Island, Nik Wallenda will uphold the family tradition by walking on a cable about as thick as a nickel suspended from a ridiculous height, all without a safety net. “I’m very excited about my walk at Kings Island,” Wallenda was recently quoted as saying. “This is going to be the highest walk I’ve ever done. I’ll be taller than the new Diamondback roller coaster!” he added, throwing in a plug for the park’s newest attraction. Wallenda’s walk will take place on Saturday and is scheduled for 7 p.m. At a height of 262 feet, it will be the highest walk attempted at Kings Island. Wallenda will walk from the park’s entrance gate to the Eiffel Tower, more than 800 feet. Free with park admission.
