When Cincinnati’s founders dreamt of this city’s future, they probably didn’t think that Cincinnatians would celebrate their German heritage by eating deep-fried sauerkraut balls, dancing like fools and drinking mass amounts of beer in the streets of downtown. But in case you’ve been locked in a bomb shelter since 1976, that’s what we do.
Cincinnati’s Oktoberfest is one of the largest in North America, with around 500,000 attendees every year. One event that sets this fest apart from the rest is the World’s Largest Chicken Dance. Since 1994, people have squeezed onto Fountain Square to participate in the whitest dance ever and make it into the Guinness Book. On Sunday, Homer Simpson will lead this year’s dance-off.
It’s gonna be huge, so check out CityBeat's official Oktoberfest guide here to avoid getting lost.
Oktoberfest Zinzinnati runs 11 a.m.-midnight Saturday and 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday downtown.
