Pop-lock and drop it or whatever your jig of choice might be as Fountain Square presents Cincinnati’s Pop Rock music event, Popopolis. Don’t fret if you’re not in tune with the Queen City’s homespun music scene — there will be cutting-edge riffs that will suit everyone’s musical appetite 7-11 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday.

The event, originally started in the late 1990s as an annual affair at the Southgate House, was reborn last year and featured reunions by bands of that era. This year one of those bands, The Stapletons, reunites for a 9 p.m. set Friday, followed by a rare show by The Turnbull AC’s (Nashville-via-Cincinnati band Slow Claw and Tonefarmer also perform Friday). Saturday features newer melodic bands like The Minor Leagues, No No Knots and The Dukes; Bri Love, the artist formerly known as Swarthy, also plays a full-band set.

Arriving early is always a must to get a good viewing spot, but it’s also of high importance if you plan to park on the street. Covered parking is available at numerous nearby garages, including below Fountain Square. Enjoyment is free and open to the public thanks to this year’s sponsor, Budweiser.
