Newly Newport-based Powerhouse Factories' annual poster party is back, armed with another smorgasbord of gig posters from both the Factory's archive and newer creations for such diverse bands as Fang Island, The Walkmen, Grace Potter & the Nocturnals, Ghostface Killah (who actually made a curious tour stop at the Mad Hatter a few months back), Screaching Weasel, of Montreal, Holy Fuck and Neon Indian. The party provides attendees with a number of stellar gift options for the music fan on your Christmas list, but you'll be just as likely to grab something for yourself. (Gargano World Headquarters — aka a small but sweet loft space in Over-the-Rhine — is rife with Powerhouse posters, including one for a wistfully remembered 2005 multi-act show called iLove that featured a number of now-defunct local bands like And How, Staggering Statistics, The Thirteens, Ruby Vileos and Chalk.)

Powerhouse's deftly crafted, often conceptually witty silkscreened gems range from $1-$50, with framed posters starting at $100. Early party arrivals will be rewarded: The first 33 people through the door Friday night will get a free poster (options include the 2010 Holiday Rock Poster Party print as well as various gig posters). There will also be another batch of “Mystery Tubes,” which feature five randomly selected posters across a variety of styles and genres, for the bargain price of $20. 6 p.m.-midnight at Powerhouse Factories (33 E. Ninth St., Newport).
