Record Store Day debuted in April 2008 and has since served as the one day a year for store owners, musicians and faithful supporters of independent record stores to gather and celebrate their mutual efforts to keep the record business alive and well. More than 700 independently-owned record stores in the United States are participating in the third annual Record Store Day, including three of Cincinnati's finest sources for local music.
Shake It Records is hosting a meet and greet with A Day to Remember and Silverstein at 4 p.m. Saturday, followed by an in-store performance by The Seedy Seeds (pictured) at 9 p.m.
Everybody's Records is hosting contests, giveaways and a full lineup of bands, including Magnolia Mountain and Kim Taylor, starting at noon.
Limited edition vinyl records will be available at Shake It, Everybody's and Moles Records, Cincinnati's oldest independent record store (there's a good chance Moles will have one of its legendary cook-outs and live music). If nothing else, stop by for a quick browse and celebrate all that's awesome about the few remaining record stores in the city still fighting the good fight against corporate domination of the music biz.
