Those of us who have been in college recently know and appreciate the amount of sex that regularly occurs on a college campus (“Yo girl! You ever heard of The Newsrecord? I’m the arts editor, lets go get some French fries and take ‘em back to my place…”). But those students who don’t have the advantage of English department high status will find considerable sexual resources at their disposal during Sex Week, a collection of presentations, sexual health fairs and parties encouraging open discussion about sexual health, empowerment of women and other sexy topics. The series is sponsored by Pure Romance, Inc., a locally based company that specializes in educating women, developing sex-enhancing products and organizing parties to help create sexual dialogue and promote sexual health. Pure Romance was founded as a means for addressing women’s often stigmatized sexual interests but has also become a center for healthy sexual exploration and education for men, including gay men and straight men who like gay-ish things in bed. Sex Week begins Monday and concludes Feb. 6.
