I guess when a major drinking holiday falls on a weekday, all festivities must be moved to the weekend, so hooray for everyone because St. Patrick’s Day is coming early this year. That means you won’t have to call in “sick” on Wednesday while you’re barfing up green beer.

Start drinking Saturday at 11 a.m. on Fountain Square where there will be a viewing area for Cincinnati’s traditional St. Patrick’s Day Parade, which passes on Fifth Street. This year’s theme is “Leadership Through Inspiration and Charity,” with Grand Marshal Patrick Downing.

When the parade is over, the party starts. The square will feature Irish music, dancing, traditional food and booze until 9 p.m. Musical acts include Irish acts the Unlucky Charms, Pub Uglies, The Serfs, Joshua Tree (a U2 tribute band) and then the not-so-Irish Seedy Seeds.
