Downtown's Contemporary Arts Center on Saturday will have an event so big it can only be called THE EVENT. A fundraiser for the museum, it celebrates Shepard Fairey's return to the CAC where his hugely popular Supply and Demand retrospective is on display along with the opening of two additional shows, Ernesto Neto's Dancing Allowed and Pat Steir's Water & Stone. The real "event" portion occurs in the Backstage District alleyways behind the CAC for a street party with music, including DJ sets by Fairey himself.
For CAC members, activities start at 8 p.m. and feature a private DJ set by Fairey from 9-10 p.m. The party opens to the general public at 10 p.m. with a final DJ set by Fairey at 11:30. Regular tickets for THE EVENT are $35 in advance and $40 at the door. A pre-sale VIP package, including valet parking, a “dinner by the bite” and 6:30 p.m. dessert with artists Neto and Steir and CAC Director Raphaela Platow, is available for $175.
