For a limited time, less than two weeks, Columbus’ replica ships, The Nina and The Pinta, will be on the shores of Covington where the B&B riverboats dock. These two ships, from a time before combustion, together span 150 feet in deck length and move around with sails that would cover a house, but that’s not all. The Nina (a ship weighing 75 tons) was built completely by hand without the use of power tools, making it “the most historically correct Columbus replica ever built,” according to Archaeology magazine. And The Pinta, if you aren’t into the whole historical scene, is available for private parties. The ships will be docked Friday through Sept. 28. 9 a.m.-6 p.m. daily. $7 adults; $6 seniors; $5 children; 4 and under free.
