Looking for a creative alternative to the onslaught of big-budget behemoths that populate local movie mutiplexes? Look no further than the Cincinnati Film Festival, which opens this week and runs through Sept. 15.
The festival, now in its fourth year, features 100 films (including some 38 full-length features) to be presented at numerous venues across the city (though the majority of screenings will occur at Tower Place Mall). Brad Wise’s A Strange Brand of Happy, a locally shot romantic comedy starring Joe Boyd and Shirley Jones, opens the festival Thursday at 20th Century Theatre.
