Hand-painted signs — you pass them just about everywhere you go, weathered by time and full of tradition. What was once a common job is now a highly specialized craft, struggling in the face of technological advances. And Sign Painters, directed by Faythe Levine and Sam Macon, discusses the trade of hand-painted sign making, with anecdotal accounts from artists all over the country, including from vanguards like Ira Coyne and Norma Jeanne Maloney. Sign Painters will leave you with an increased awareness for this rather unacknowledged art form rooted in a 150-year-old American history.
Presented by the American Sign Museum in collaboration with the Cincinnati Chapter of the Society for Experiential Graphic Design. Tickets must be purchased prior to the event.
