The William Howard Taft National Historic Site — the childhood home of President William Howard Taft — hosts an ice cream social on the Fourth of July. In addition to free ice cream (as if that’s not enough), the social features music by Ma Crow and the Lady Slippers, an all-female Bluegrass band from Cincinnati and a three-time Cincinnati Entertainment Awards nominee. The historic site is open seven days a week from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.; free visits include a guided tour of Taft’s boyhood home, self-guided exhibits and an introductory video on Taft’s life and career.

1-4 p.m. Friday. Free. William Howard Taft National Historic Site, 2038 Auburn Ave., Mount Auburn, 513-684-3262, nps.gov/wiho.
