Gone Girl

David Fincher follows up 2011’s adaptation of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo with another page turner; this time working with author Gillian Flynn as she translates her own novel about a seemingly perfect couple — Nick (Ben Affleck) and Amy (Rosamund Pike) — with loads of secrets that get exposed under the harsh lights of the media after Amy disappears and all evidence points to Nick as the prime suspect. Fincher and an eclectic cast featuring Neil Patrick Harris, Kim Dickens, Patrick Fugit and Tyler Perry (yes, that Tyler Perry) dig into modern society’s fascination with true crime stories and the idea of what happens in the most intimate moments between couples. The film sounds like a box office no-brainer, but will it be able to grab enough critical love to make a run during awards season? (Opens wide Friday) (R) Not screened in time for review
