Going green definitely is in style.
The second annual Eco Go Go fashion show April 22 will include eco-friendly clothing as well as a number of booths sponsored by environmentally-conscious local businesses. A percentage of sales will be donated to the Imago Earth Center, the West Side educational nature preserve.
Organizers want to show locals they can help the environment while still looking fabulous, says Kathleen McGuirk. Models will be sporting eco-friendly clothing courtesy of Campus Cyclery, Park Vine, Nati Evolvement and The Spotted Goose.
McGuirk says people need to let go of the stereotype that eco-friendly clothing always resembles a hemp bag. Organic clothing lines feature chic and cutting edge designs and people will be pleasantly surprised, she says.
This year’s show includes bike-beautiful fashions, the Fountain Square Flower Carpet by graphic designer Joel Knueven, hair courtesy of A Salon Named Desire and a DJ so people can shake it during the event.
“We want people to know they can look amazing and still be eco-friendly while contributing to local businesses and helping the planet,” McGuirk says.
The event will take place noon-1 p.m. April 22 (Earth Day) on Fountain Square. Additional sponsors include BuyCincy, Cincy Chic, City Roots and Mr. Dibbs. For more information, check out www.parkandvine.com.
