Everyone loves the PR of going green—the city wants to personify green, the county is pushing green, businesses tout themselves as environmentally friendly regardless of their minuscule efforts—making going “green” as chic as a little black dress.—-

Some organizations get to wrap themselves in green and legitimately benefit from the current environmental hype – one is the Ohio Environmental Council (OEC). A fundraiser that will help the green group to stay in greenbacks is “The Green Gala.”

In two weeks you can “enjoy fabulous silent auction items up for bid, honor the 2008 Environmental Achievement Award winners and network with activists, lawmakers, green businesses, and agency officials.”

In addition to celebrating a year of important ecological victories (See in the buckeye state, the price of admission will get non-members a one-year complimentary membership to the OEC.

So if you want to hobnob with the truly green, mark your calendar for Saturday, Nov. 15, 6–9 p.m. The Hyatt on Capitol Square (75 East State Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215) will host. Tickets are $40 for an individual or $35 for two or more tickets for OEC members and non-OEC members are $45 for an individual or $40 for two or more tickets.
