Health Care Reform Forum Thursday

A forum on health care reform featuring people who have been adversely affected by the current system that relies on private insurance will be held Thursday. Entitled “National Health Care Reform: The Time Is Now,” the forum will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. at St. Monica/St. George Parish Center, 328 W. McMillan St., Clifton Heights.

Among panelists who will speak at the forum are uninsured people, small business owners who can't afford premiums for their workers and physicians.—-

Several organizations are sponsoring the event, including the Contact Center, the Cincinnati Archdiocese’s Catholic Social Action Office, the Intercommunity Justice and Peace Center and Cincinnati ACORN.

“Independence Day is quickly approaching,” a press release about the event states. “Now is the time to demand independence from the tyranny of health insurance companies who have driven up costs, dropped people from coverage and flatly refused to cover the most vulnerable among us.”

The Contact Center is a nonprofit community organizing agency whose mission is to end poverty.
