Recently, Kroger stores nationwide decided to cease carrying all free publications in all of their stores. That includes CityBeat and myriad other Association of Alternative Newsmedia publications. (The AAN published this piece about a "Don't Lose Local News" campaign with numbers to call to ask Kroger reverse its decision on free alts.)
Here at CityBeat we began reassessing distribution points before the removal and are still in the process of reevaluating where some of the papers previously carried at Kroger stores across the city will go. We have had many readers who typically pick up their copy of CityBeat at Kroger call or email asking where they can find a paper, so we've made a landing page on the website that currently lists some major distribution points. We will be updating the citybeat.com/find-a-paper page with a more detailed and interactive map with more distribution points as we update our list.
Note: Sometimes, if you go to a distribution point and it is empty, it means all the papers have been picked up. Our drivers make a note of empty boxes and racks to see if we need to add more papers there in the future.
