The Drake Planetarium offers up some super sweet laser light shows with holiday themes for the holiday season, as well as some shows paired with classics like Pink Floyd’s The Wall (because nothing says Christmas like Roger Waters). The seasonal laser show, Laser Holiday Skies, features a mix of traditional and modern Christmas music, including songs like Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” and “Frosty the Snowman” by Cocteau Twins, all choreographed to lasers. Then there’s Laser Beatles, set to an assortment of Beatles hits, and Laser Classic Rock, with lasers moving to the sounds of bands like AC/DC, Queen, Van Halen, Aerosmith, ELP and more. If all that lasering seems too psychedelic for you, the planetarium is also showing ’Tis the Season, a regular planetarium show that reveals the roots of various holiday traditions and examines the stars visible in the winter night sky. This is the last weekend to catch all the action. Friday features the Classic Rock show and The Wall, while Saturday you can watch Laser Holiday Skies followed by The Beatles. Both start at 7 p.m. Sunday, see ‘Tis the Season and Laser Holiday Skies back-to-back, starting at 2 p.m. $7 in advance for the laser shows; $8 at the door. ‘Tis the Season is $6 in advance and $7 at the door.
