The Nutcracker season is upon us!

De la Dance Company co-directors Mario de la Nuez and Meridith Benson have cooked up a full-cast treat featuring traditional ballet and jazzy dancing with music by both Tchaikovsky and Duke Ellington. The ballet opens in New York City in the ’40s, with Herr Drosselmeyer’s party entertainment “all jazzed up.” In the second act, all the familiar variations (like Spanish, Arabian and tiny Polichinelles) are there to enchant you.

The icing on the cake? Exquisite renditions of the classical Snow and Grand pas de deux, starring former Cincinnati Ballet principals Benson and Mark Cisler.

Weekends through Nov. 30. $22-$35. Aronoff Center for the Arts, 650 Walnut St., Downtown, 513-621-2787, cincinnatiarts.org.
