David Frankel (The Devil Wears Prada) reunites with Meryl Streep in Hope Springs, the story of a couple (Streep and Tommy Lee Jones), married for 30 years, who decide to attend a week-long marriage counseling program with a renowned therapist (Steve Carell) in order to renew the spark that has seemingly lost its charge after all these years. While the film looks broad and sentimental, the no-nonsense approach of Jones might trigger Streep’s ability to elevate the material toward something hopeful and honest. Opens wide Aug. 10.
