Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and therefore most art is also a matter of personal taste. But this guy ... this guy is taking it to a whole new level. —-
Recently featured in the New Art blog, Daito Manabe is a spectacular system designer/programmer/composer/artist out of Tokyo. In his latest piece, he literally makes his eyes part of his art, by making his face dance.
Manabe has a mathematics degree from the Tokyo University of Science, has worked as a DJ and has also managed to put the word "Turntablist" on his resume, which is only slightly less cool than having the word "Hitman" on it.
Call it cyber art, new media art or the future, but it's here. Unlike early, clumsy attempts, today's artists are producing pieces with new techniques that are actually entertaining. Instead of pretending to be impressed by the new use of technology, we can sit back and laugh or cry. But at the end of the day, we're feeling something now.
Check out the "True," a dance that Manabe helped conceive here. Just make sure that Grandma's down for her nap before you watch it.
