A state lawmaker will host two sessions later this month designed to give advice to small business owners on obtaining loans to start or expand a business.
State Sen. Eric Kearney (D-9th District) is sponsoring the Small Business Credit Access Forum on July 28. The sessions will be held at the TechSolve Business Park, located at 6705 Stegner Drive in Carthage.—-
The sessions, which will be held from 9-11:30 a.m. and from 2-3:30 p.m., will feature representatives from the banking industry. They will offer tips on how small businesses may obtain credit during the current economic downturn, and answer questions.
Although the forum is free, registration is required due to limited space. Anyone interested in attending may sign up online or get more information by calling (614) 466-5980.
“Small business owners approached me with stories about holding off on hiring or passing on contracts because of difficulty accessing credit,” Kearney said. “The credit market may be tighter but lending is still going on.”
A similar forum hosted by Kearney three years ago drew more than 600 attendees.
Kearney's state senate district includes parts of Cincinnati, St. Bernard, Elmwood Place, Cleves, Cheviot, Norwood, Golf Manor, Columbia Township, Deer Park, Silverton, Springfield Township, North Bend and Addyston.
Formerly known as the Institute of Advanced Manufacturing Sciences, TechSolve was founded in 1982 by the city of Cincinnati, the Greater Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce and several large industrial firms to assist local manufacturing companies improve their efficiency.
