Though Andy Grammer’s utilization of technology has helped him become (and remain) a Pop star — drawing major streams on sites like Spotify and YouTube and engaging with his many fans consistently through his social media sites — his start was decidedly low-tech and old school.
After college, he began busking on the streets and piers around his hometown of Los Angeles (his dad is popular children’s music star Red Grammer), ultimately landing a management deal and then a label contract with S-Curve Records in 2010. Grammer’s catchy, radio-friendly Pop was an instant hit; his 2011 self-titled debut album spawned the huge single “Keep Your Head Up,” which was accompanied by an interactive video clip that earned the award for Most Innovative Video at MTV’s 2011 Music Awards.
Grammer released an EP in 2013, but fans will finally get a new full-length from the singer on Aug. 5, when Magazines or Novels
(featuring the on-the-rise single “Back Home”) is released. With Brendan James.
