Rowdy and intense Rock and Soul singer/keyboardist James Leg (who first came to the public’s attention with Black Diamond Heavies) released his latest solo album, Below the Belt, in early September and has spent the past few months supporting the album throughout Europe. This weekend, the Tennessee-based Leg brings his acclaimed live show to Cincinnati, which is fitting considering the latest album’s many local ties. Cincy drummer Andy Jody (a member of Barrence Whitfield & The Savages who has played with a boatload of Cincinnati bands) is Leg’s regular drummer, and Below the Belt was recorded in Northern Kentucky hangout The Lodge with a host of other local musicians, including Johnny Walker (Soledad Brothers), Kane Kitchen and Matt Ayers (The Guitars and All-Seeing Eyes with Walker), Beth Harris (The Hiders, The Perfect Children), Kristen Kreft (Perfect Children) and others. Many of the area artists who helped with the recording will be on hand for Friday’s show (All-Seeing Eyes open), making it a unique, one-night-only affair.
