Music: Jason Wells and Sleepybird

Jason Wells of For Algernon is one of the finest young, subtle songwriters in our area thanks to his emotive, honest approach, which always reveals the edges of the human condition in a way that leaves you wondering if Wells has been reading your diary.

Jason Wells of For Algernon is one of the finest young, subtle songwriters in our area thanks to his emotive, honest approach, which always reveals the edges of the human condition in a way that leaves you wondering if Wells has been reading your diary. Inspired by collaborations with one of Dayton’s finest bands, Sleepybird, he concocted the album Oh My Starling (a more fleshed-out, visceral version of Wells’ Indie stylings) which he released digitally earlier this year.

This Friday at Mayday, Wells and Sleepybird perform in support of Starling’s physical release, which features handmade, limitededition packaging. The free show will also include a separate performance from Sleepybird as well as a set by Indie Pop masters The Minor Leagues.

Wells also recently announced that For Algernon and The Minor Leagues have been asked to perform at the second MidPoint Indie Summer Series event on Fountain Square June 11, opening for buzz band Neon Indian.
