Originally based out of Paducah, Ky., the wild and woolly band of hillbilly music-twisting punkers is moving forward as its 20th anniversary looms.
In the last few years, the Legendary Shack Shakers’ ruckus has been lifted by TV shows such as True Blood and Swamp Loggers, which have used the band’s songs on their soundtracks. The band has been described as everything from Southern Gothic Rock and Rockabilly/Cowpunk to Sideshow Carnival Music and a group that “don’t do murder ballads, they do murder boogie.”
The group’s current tour will last through November and take the Legendary Shack Shakers to the U.K. and the Netherlands. But on Friday, these wired slam-puppies will bring their roof-shaking rave-ups to the Southgate House Revival for a full night of irreverent fun and antics.
8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5. $15; $18 day of. Southgate House Revival, 111 E. Sixth St., Newport, Ky., southgatehouse.com.
