Hip Hop stars Method Man and Redman make such great music, they can be forgiven for their silly, unfunny movie and TV careers (though maybe not for those deodorant commercials). The duo each had success in their own right when they formed their partnership, Method Man as a part of the Wu Tang Clan and Redman with supergroup Def Squad. The twosome’s classic debut, Blackout!, was written on the road while both were touring with the Hard Knock Life tour in 1999. The dynamic duo is apparently into sequels right now. Following a remake of the classic track “Broken Language” (originally a hit for Smoothe da Hustler and Trigger tha Gambler) earlier this year, the pair are said to be working on a new album, telling tour audiences that it will be a Blackout! sequel, Blackout! 2.
Oh, and it looks like How High (their dreadful feature film) is getting a sequel as well. If it means they make more records together, they could make more How High sequels than Freddy Krueger has. The duo’s local stop Wednesday is at 8 p.m. at The Mad Hatter in Covington, which should make for a great, sweaty, intimate concert experience. $30.
