Music, Movies and the Not So Mundane

Method Man recently told Complex that the RZA and the GZA wrote most of Ol’ Dirty Bastard's first LP. On account of Dirty working too slowly, the RZA and GZA took matters into their own hands by taking old rhymes and having Dirty rap them. Method Man said:

“The majority of the verses on that album are old RZA rhymes and GZA rhymes. ‘Approach the school, 9:30, you’re late,’ that’s RZA’s shit, I heard that shit when I was 14 years old.

ODB wrote ‘Brooklyn Zoo’ though. I could go through the discography I could tell you which ones he wrote. Like ‘Dog Shit’ on Wu-Tang Forever? The fucking, ‘Calling me a dog/But leave a dog alone/Because nothing can stop me from burying my bones,’ I wrote that when I was 15 years old.”

Kanye West yesterday tweeted that he will be releasing a G.O.O.D. Music label/crew album in the spring of 2012. That could mean any combination of Kid CuDi, Big Sean, Mr. Hudson, CyHi The Prynce, Pusha T, D'banj and Common as well as producers Hit-Boy and Don Jazzy.

As if trying to show up the escaped wildlife in Ohio, a red-tailed hawk in San Francisco is still hunting gophers and just being awesome in general despite having been shot in the head with a nail gun. A wildlife rescue group has been trying to capture the bird for damn near a week now. "We know he's gotten some nourishment, which is good because we know he's in a weakened state. We need him hungry,” said Rebecca Dmytryk, executive director of the Monterey-based group WildRescue.

Matt Damon is set to make his directorial debut after teaming up with John Krasinski (Brief Interviews with Hideous Men) to write and direct an untitled drama.

As soon as he’s done playing Edgar Allan Poe in The Raven, John Cusack will head to Brazil with Johnny Knoxville to star in Josh Stern’s latest comedy, Carnaval. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Cusack will play a sports scout sent to Rio de Janeiro during Carnaval to sign a top soccer player. Things get hairy when his friend who was supposed to just be tagging along (Knoxville) tags the star’s wife. Filming begins in Rio in January of 2012.

Alec Baldwin, in all his greatness, made an appearance at an Occupy Wall Street protest Tuesday night. Baldwin sent out mass tweets about the visit, including: "My thanks 2 Aaron from Brooklyn and Sean from Winnipeg for this evening's OWS tutorial. My first. A lot of dedicated people at #ZuccottiPark" and "OWS needs to coalesce around some legislative policy. The 'occupy' strategy may be an effective one. But what can each entity agree on?"

You can see Baldwin kinda, sorta handle a question about the Federal Reserve before being accosted by a Ron Paul supporter.

It’s ok. I’ve played an economist before.”

Happy Birthday to Viggo Mortensen, Danny Boyle, Snoop Dogg, John Krasinski and Tom Petty.
