Although there are plenty of musical options in Greater Cincinnati this week (and throughout the summer, especially this year), if you’re up for a little road trip, the Nelsonville Music Festival is just about 150 miles away — in Nelsonville, Ohio, at Hocking College — and boasts an excellent lineup of top-notch national acts.
This year’s lineup might be its best yet, with headliners such as Wilco, Cat Power and John Prine, plus a stellar undercard that includes The Coup, Jonathan Richman, Sharon Van Etten and Calexico, plus a trio of Cincinnati’s finest — The Sundresses, Wussy and The Hiders. Nelsonville is known for its intimacy and coziness — Andrew Bird called it “a hell of a lot better than Coachella” at last year’s event —and you can camp out, check out local art vendors and even bring the kids.
