Music: Publico Music at the Weston

Live music was a part of what made Publico so memorable, and now founders Paul and Matt Coors bring it to the Weston Art Gallery’s Since You’ve Been Gone exhibit about Publico’s impact on Cincinnati arts. Publico exhibit space had a good run in Over-the-Rhine from 2003 to 2008 and Since You’ve Been Gone creates a virtual Publico inside the space of the Weston, part of downtown’s Aronoff Center for the Arts. Saturday the Weston hosts Burning Star Core, High Places and Me or the Moon. Burning Star Core, a.k.a. C. Spencer Yeh, is a classically trained violinist who bends his strings into high-tension experimental sounds. Brooklyn-based duo High Places layers the percussion of Robert Barber with the ethereal vocals of Mary Pearson. Sprinkle in some birds, bells and crashing waves and their music is meditative, energetic and trippy. Matthew Shelton, Victor Strunk and Tony Franklin of Me or the Moon create intoxicating melodies with the use of mbira and kalimba, mixed with upright bass and drums. 9 p.m. $10.
