The Cincinnati Pops (with conductor John Morris Russell) take over Riverbend’s Corbett Pavilion for a patriotic concert, complete with special appearances by Folk darling Aoife O’Donovan (see interview with O’Donovan here), the May Festival Chorus, baritone Nmon Ford and the USO Show Troupe, plus a Rozzi’s Famous Fireworks display — you can’t have a true Fourth of July celebration without one. Expect classic Americana tunes like “The Star-Spangled Banner,” “Battle Hymn of the Republic,” “Shenandoah,” “America the Beautiful” and more, including a rousing musical salute to the Armed Forces. Red, White & Boom! ticket-holders also receive free admission to nearby Coney Island, starting at 11 a.m.
8 p.m. Saturday. $5-$40. Riverbend, 6295 Kellogg Ave., California, 513-381-3300, cincinnatisymphony.org.
