For a part of the country often accused of being behind times, Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky have certainly seen more than its fair share of hot Dubstep artists from around the world coming into town to perform. You can give a lot thanks for that to Covington-based Next Era Entertainment, the promoters who have helped make (particularly) Northern Kentucky a common stop on EDM artists' tour itineraries. Shows featuring the likes of Bassnecctar, Flux Pavilion and Dieselboy have all packed local clubs with Next Era's assistance (and an all-ages or 18-and-up policy for most events).
Tonight, Next Era does again, this time bringing London Dubstep producer/DJ Christopher Mercer, much better known as Rusko. The 27-year-old artist started out doing production work before developing his own style of adrenalized, upbeat Dubstep and releasing single tracks, his O.M.G.! album and collaborations with fellow Dupstep champ Caspa (who was also just at the Madison thanks to Next Era). Rusko's much-anticipated new album Songs is due this March and will be followed by an extensive U.S. tour throughout the spring, as well as another collaborative release, this time with West Coast Hip Hop vets Cypress Hill.
Tonight's show starts at 10 p.m. and doors open at 9 p.m. Bitflip opens. (It's advised to arrive early since sell outs are not uncommon.) Tickets are $25.
Here is Rusko's video for "Woo Boost" off of his debut album.
• Straight outta Manheim, PA, adventurous Metalcore/Thrash outfit August Burns Red headlines Bogart's tonight, joined by I the Breather, Texas in July and Silverstein, the only non-devout Christian act on the tour. Showtime is 7:15 p.m. for the all-ages show. Tickets are $18. Check out the tour teaser below.
