Peace Talks
Gateways to Healing in Mount Lookout presents a workshop Feb. 23 and 24 on nonviolent communication. Jeff Brown, a trainer with the Center for Nonviolent Communication, leads the program, "Communicating with Compassion: Using nonviolent communication to create peace & harmony in your life." River Lovers, Unite
The next regular meeting by Friends of the Great Miami is at 7 p.m. Feb. 26 at the Colerain Township Government Complex, 4200 Springdale Road. The Friends of the Great Miami is a nonprofit, citizen-based river advocacy group that seeks volunteers for riverside tree plantings, educational canoe floats, stream sampling trips, river cleanups and other activities to improve the Great Miami River.

Showtime for NOW
The Cincinnati Chapter of the National Organization for Women has its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. March 5 at the First Unitarian Church. In honor of Women's History Month, the program features a video about Sojourner Truth, a documentary on Bella Abzug or a Century of Women.

The Mayor Will See You Now
Cincinnati Mayor Mark Mallory meets twice a month with anyone who has an issue or problem to discuss with him. "Mayors Night In" is from 5-7 p.m. in the mayor's office at City Hall. Every citizen who attends has a five-minute individual meeting to talk about anything they wish. Meetings are assigned in the order that individuals sign in, with sign-ins beginning at 4:30 pm. The next sessions are Feb. 27, March 6 and 20, April 10 and 24, May 8 and 22 and June 5 and 19.
Documentary Series Seeks 'One World'
The Seven Hills School, in conjunction with Cincinnati Earth Institute, presents its Spring 2007 community film series, "One World: Building A Sustainable Future," focusing on global awareness and environmental sustainability. Each film provides an opportunity for members of the school and Greater Cincinnati communities to discuss global challenges and some of the ways human ingenuity can work with the natural world to meet them. The films will be shown monthly, January through May, at no charge in Founders Hall on the Hillsdale Campus, 5400 Red Bank Road. The films begin at 7 p.m. For more information, call 271-9027. Build a New World
Xavier University's second annual Vision of Hope speaker series is based on the theme, "Five Pillars of a New World Building," explored in a video by Benjamin J. Urmston, S.J., director of Peace and Justice Programs at XU. The topic of the final session is "Nonviolence." The program is from 7-9 p.m. March 19 in the Schiff Family Conference Center. Admission is free.
