Support Farm Workers
The Farm Labor Organizing Committee (FLOC) rallies at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Music Hall during the Kroger shareholders meeting. FLOC wants Kroger to support its boycott of the Mt. Olive Pickle Company, part of a campaign to organize farmworkers who pick cucumbers for the company's suppliers. The Archdiocese of Cincinnati and churches across the country have endorsed the boycott.
The Greening of the City
Imago and Price Hill Will present "The Green City," a series of seminars on urban sprawl and sustainable development. "Our Space" is the theme from 6-8:30 p.m. Wednesday. Other topics include "Public Space," June 30; "Through Space," July 7; and "Putting it All Together," July 28. The seminars meet at St. Lawrence Church in Price Hill. The cost for the series is $30. End Torture by U.S. Invaders
The Education for Peace in Iraq Center is circulating an online petition demanding President Bush end the torture of Iraqi prisoners by American occupation forces. The petition calls for the United States to declare unequivocal support for the Geneva Conventions and the framework of law that came about following World War II.
