For the Love of Kids
Beech Acres Parenting Center offers practical solutions to everyday challenges at the For the Love of Kids Parenting Conference from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 21 at Duke Energy Center. The annual conference focuses on helping parents strengthen their families, reenergize themselves and learn tips to make parenting a little easier. Tickets for all day, inclkuding lunch, are $60. Build a New World
Xavier University's second annual Vision of Hope speaker series is based on the theme, "Five Pillars of a New World Building," explored in a video by Benjamin J. Urmston, S.J., director of Peace and Justice Programs at XU. Each session meets from 7-9 p.m. The topics are "Democratic World Order," Jan. 22, in the Schiff Family Conference Center at the Cintas Center; "Human Rights," Feb. 11 in the Schiff Family Conference Center; and "Nonviolence," March 19, in a location to be announced. Admission is free.
The Mayor's Available
Mayor's Night In is a program that invites citizens into the office of Mayor Mark Mallory Office to talk about whatever is on their minds. The schedule is 5-7 p.m. Tuesdays, Oct. 24, Nov. 4 and 15 and Dec. 5 and 19.
