Ariel Dorfman’s award-winning moral thriller explores vengeful actions precipitated by violent abuse. Annie Fitzpatrick, Michael G. Bath and Giles Davies enact the story of what happens when a stranger arrives at the home of a woman who was the victim of a cruel dictatorship in a nameless Latin American country. Is he her persecutor or an innocent man? She takes justice into her own hands and forces her husband, a government official, to assist her. It’s a horrific story, not for the faint-hearted or anyone put off by adult language or references to sexual violence. But if you yearn for a gripping, well-acted show, this is it. Through May 2. $15-$29. Diogenes Theatre Company at the Aronoff Center, 650 Walnut St., Downtown, cincinnatiarts.org.
