If you’ve wondered about the Wonderettes, those spunky gals from the ’50s and ’60s who’ve entertained audiences at Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati for several seasons, I have good news for you. They’ll be back at ETC next season. But you can return to the same era, same town, same high school with ETC’s next production. The “Crooning Crabcakes” are the boys banned as prom entertainers, making way for the girls. They’re still dreaming of the big time, hoping to make their break via a local radio contest. The show, created by Roger Bean who dreamed up the Wonderettes, is another trip down a musical memory lane with classic tunes including “Runaround Sue,” “Tears on My Pillow,” “Unchained Melody,” “Earth Angel” and “Stay (Just a Little Bit Longer.” Will the boys outsell the girls? It could happen. Through May 20. $36-$42. Ensemble Theatre, 1127 Vine St., Over-the-Rhine. 513-421-3555.
