Cincinnati Playwrights Initiative regularly offers readings of new scripts by its members. These tend to be small gatherings of friends and perhaps a few interested theatergoers or acquaintances of the actors in the Aronoff Center’s small (and under-utilized) black box theater. But something bigger is planned for Tuesday when Tatiana Cameron’s new musical gets its premiere. You might not know of her, but by the name of Tajci she is an international singing star from Croatia. The graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy and the Croatian Music Conservatory has been performing since the age of 4, including gigs at Madison Square Garden and Carnegie Hall.
My Perfectly Beautiful Life, her first full-length musical, is a celebration of friendship, marriage and womanhood. It focuses on four women and their search for balance and self-discovery in a hectic, self-centered world. The one-evening performance is directed by Caitlin Kane, whose staging of Sophie’s Dream (another work about women who support one another) was a popular offering at the 2010 Fringe Festival. My Perfectly Beautiful Life was warmly received in a workshop a year ago and this fuller version promises to be even more engaging. $4-$7. 513-621-2787.
