The Acclaim Awards, which recently incorporated CityBeat’s Cincinnati Entertainment Awards for theater, are presenting a great opportunity for an overview of the season ahead in a program this weekend.

Turn up at Joseph-Beth Booksellers (at Rookwood Pavilion, 2692 Madison Road, Norwood) at 4 p.m. Sunday and you can hear from Ed Stern (Cincinnati Playhouse), D. Lynn Meyers (Ensemble Theatre of Cincinnati), Ken Jones (Northern Kentucky University), Brian Isaac Phillips (Cincinnati Shakespeare Company), Tim Perrino (Covedale Center for the Performing Arts), Eric Vosmeier (Know Theater of Cincinnati), Josh Steele (Carnegie Visual and Performing Arts Center) and Jim Stump (New Edgecliff Theatre). These artistic directors will talk about their 2010-11 seasons and shows in addition to the state of theater in Greater Cincinnati, plus take questions from the audience.

The event will help heighten awareness of and raise funds for the Acclaims, a program that recognizes outstanding work onstage and supports a variety of initiatives for area theater artists and educators. Jo-Beth is having a sale that day that benefits the Acclaims; use a coupon (from CinStages.com) and you’ll get a discount on your purchase.

In addition, the bookstore will donate a portion of the proceeds to the Acclaims. There will also be a drawing for a “see-a-show-a-month” prize from eight local theaters. Now that’s a great deal. Free admission. More info: 513-396-8960.
