Classical music isn’t something you’d probably normally associate with the Fourth of July, a holiday often defined by drunken games of cornhole, copious meat consumption and booming fireworks. Class your celebration up a bit this year with the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra’s Red, White & Boom. Enjoy a family-friendly evening with patriotic musical selections from Tony-nominated performers and a full orchestra. And in case you just won’t feel American without some sort of explosion, the night will be topped off with a glitzy display by Rozzi’s Fireworks. Channel 9 news anchor Clyde Gray will narrate Copland’s Lincoln Portrait and the show will also be complemented by performances from the May Festival Summer Chorus as well as Broadway singing sensations Pamela Myers and Lee Roy Reams. There will be a Family Fun Zone preceding the show at 6:30 p.m., complete with face painting, instrument making and more for the kids. 8 p.m. July 4 at Riverbend Music Center. Tickets are $20-$25, $15-$20 in advance, and children under 12 receive free lawn seats. Get tickets and venue details here.
