People who are having trouble providing pet food or cat litter for their pets during the recession can receive free temporary assistance from the newly created Cincinnati Pet Food Pantry.—-
The non-profit pantry, founded by Recycled Doggies and the Pet Alliance, will hold its first distribution day on March 6 at the Queen City Self-Storage facility, located at 4775 Red Bank Expressway, near Madisonville. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to noon.
There is no income limit for people seeking assistance for their pets, although they must state in writing that they are currently unable to provide for their animals.
Anyone seeking help from the pantry must be at least 18 years of age, present a valid photo I.D., fill out an application listing everyone in the household who is younger than 18, and agree to submit a new application if the number of pets changes or the person moves.
More than 3,800 pounds of pet food and cat litter have been collected during the past few months, organizers said.
The distribution site is located behind the Red Bank Emergency Vet Clinic, just off Interstate 71 near the Red Bank exit.
