Humans and animals alike are invited to attend an event Saturday to benefit the Cincinnati Pet Food Pantry.

Kibble & Ritz 2010 will be held from 6-10 p.m. at the dog park located at the Red Dog Pet Resort and Spa in Oakley. The event will feature booths by various local businesses and offer items for purchase including wine, crepes and Belgian waffles. A raffle with more than 20 prizes, a “Crack the Safe” game and other activities also will be held.—-

Dogs are welcome to accompany their human companions but they must be leashed at all times and up to date on all tags and vaccine shots.

WKRQ (101.9 FM) will broadcast live from the event.

Admission is $10 or $5 with a food donation of at least one pound. Additionally, Red Dog will donate $25 for each new park membership they sign, at a cost of $100 annually.

Red Dog Pet Resort and Spa is located at 5081 Madison Road, the former site of the Oakley Drive-In Theatre.

The Cincinnati Pet Food Pantry is a nonprofit organization founded by Recycled Doggies and the Pet Alliance. It offers temporary assistance to pet owners who may be having trouble providing for their animals during the recession by giving free pet food and cat litter to eligible applicants.

Anyone seeking help from the pantry must be at least 18 years of age, present a valid photo I.D., fill out an application listing everyone in the household who is younger than 18, and agree to submit a new application if the number of pets changes or the person moves.

A copy of the application and eligibility guidelines may be obtained at the pantry's Web site or by calling 513-275-5842.
