Pop-Up Theater

Cincinnati finally got its first "pop-up shop," a holiday effort by local merchants to band together to take over unused retail space in Over-the-Rhine for a short period and then vacate when done. See photos from its opening weekend here.

'Tis also the season for pop-up theater, smaller productions that are squeezed in between performances of mainstage shows. One opens tonight at Know Theatre of Cincinnati.—-

The Finkles’ Theater Show, a gleeful hour of stage calamities conceived by Minneapolis-based partners Ryan Lear and Rachel Petrie (pictured), was the breakout hit of the 2010 Cincy Fringe Festival and returns for six performances at Know. The show is performed on nights when Know's current holiday production, A Wrinkle in Time, is off. Read more about The Finkles’ Theater Show here.

Cincinnati Shakespeare Company also offers a pop-up show again this year, Every Christmas Story Ever Told (And Then Some!), performed tonight in the courtyard at Arnold's Bar and Grill. In its fifth year, the comedy crams an entire holiday season’s worth of stories, carols and TV specials into 90 minutes. It's performed on off nights from Cincy Shakespeare's current holiday production, The Merry Wives of Windsor.
